New Year = New Beginnings
In Southern California gardening begins in January. Especially with the warm weather we’ve been having Spring will be here before we know it. Here are a few tips on how to get things started so your garden with flourish when it warms up.
1. Prune and Fertilize Roses- As a rule make sure your roses are fertilized and trimmed back by Super Bowl Sunday to ensure a beautiful new crop come Spring
2. Feed Citrus – In coastal areas and where climates are cooler, begin to feed your Citrus trees. Make sure they have plenty of water since it’s been a dry winter
3. Trim Bare Coral Trees – Now is a great time to to take the opportunity to see the shape of your Coral trees and give them a good trim
4. Rusty Lawns – Be sure to watch out for red/brownish hue to your lawn. It could be a sign of rust. Now is the time for it but don’t worry it is easily treatable.
